Degrees of Glory

It is always good to see your child do something good. My wife and I recently went to see our daughter's graduation. She got an honours degree from the University of Surrey. Well done Bec! It made me think about the honours in glory that will be preferred on faithful Christians when we go to heaven. On earth it appears slow progress as we face the reality of our human failings and do not feel very Christ-like, but we are being transformed as 'we are being changed into His likeness from one degree of glory to another' (2 Corinthians 3:18 RSV). The key is to behold the Lord's glory and allow the Spirit to freely move in our lives. Jesus says to those who are his disciples (students), 'a student is not above his teacher....it is enough for the student to be like his teacher.' (Matthew 10:24). It is a tall order to follow in Christ's footsteps but as we learn from Him, He leads us onwards and upwards to be like Him. It is the Father's pleasure.
